PetaLinux Impression

  • Easy platform configuration facilities (system config menu).
  • U-Boot bootloader support
  • Environment setup is easy to work with. Not having to start from scratch.
  • In tutorial not enough back ground information before each steps/sections. done BJC 20061003
  • PetaLinux Directory Struction should be expanded more to enable user to better navigate the PetaLinux source.
  • The documentation has a good straight forward frame work.
  • Installer requires progress bar done JW 20090629

About PetaLinux

  • Installer taking a long time to complete.
  • Installer prompt for directory to install petalinux is not clear. Needs to state press "yes/no" or tell user to press enter.
  • Installer SSL certificate always time out. Should prompt user first for permission to accept before doing SSL connection.
  • Create a post installation wrapper script for PSVN update.
  • Installer requires log file and status bar. done JW 20060929
  • Integrate Jason's tutorial into User Guide for creating project from scratch.
  • Strip out unused modules in ML401 reference design - fix the DCM timing constrain not met problem. Doesn't seem to be a showstopper, leaving this for another day JW 20060929
  • Disconnect Red Led for ethernet bus error problem. Was joking about disconnecting the LED - we'll leave this until someone complains JW 20060929
  • Include links from Tutorial to Xilinx's make target documentation. E.g. make init_bram, make cleanlibs...etc Updated to include link to Xilinx's XPS Doco page. BJC 20061003
  • Ensure sufficient help text is included in Menuconfig options.
  • Use Blue brouche text for not important things in documentation.
  • Expand system configuration menu.
  • Add instructions into user guide to add FS-Boot by hacking the xmd file or better yet, have a script to do it.
  • Add a graphical flow chart to the User Guide of the development flow with PetaLinux

  • Include multi-tier platform bringup for reference designs
